Project Description
Linden House, Horsham RH12
As part of this high profile project in Horsham town centre, Tower Demolition was appointed to conduct demolition works at Linden House. The works included asbestos removal and environmental clean of Guano which was located in the roof plant room. The internal soft strip works included the removal of an existing escalator stair and elevator cart as well as redundant services and internal block work walls.
The scope of works included the reduction of an external concrete fire escape to basement level and the removal of a concrete slab and brick constructed plant room located on the roof. This required temporary propping and the isolation of existing services and the removal of mechanical plant. The roof finishes then had to be reduced to structural slab to make ready for a two story extension required for an additional 12 units and the forming of an atrium through the core of the building from the roof slab down to basement level.
Tower Demolition undertook the specialist slab opening works, This was required to form the precise atrium slab openings using concrete core drilling and saw cutting equipment.
Tower Demolition designed supplied and constructed the RMD temporary propping solution. This was required to support the atrium slab opening works prior commencement. The project took 24 weeks to complete and within the contract programme. Utilising a full time project manager and supervisor and up to 20 skilled operatives.
Daily liaison with the Main Contractor was essential to the smooth operation of the works in conjunction with the traffic management and local authorities.
